Technology

The concept of Porosponic technology is based on porosity of ceramics. Unique treatment of clay and specific design of our products allow water to pass through micro membranes of the ceramics surface. Water is released by gravity through micro membranes and absorbed by soil creating optimum moist for the roots of the plants.   After years of research and development we have mastered technology to create innovative and sustainable irrigation system, which has tremendous impact on reducing water consumption, eliminating electricity factor, reducing overall maintenance costs and giving opportunity to have higher yields or simply enjoy healthy lavish plants with minimum effort.

The statement we have made above raises many questions of “how it is possible!?”  We have created FAQ page to answer to the most of the questions, however if you feel that any of your concerns have not been listed, please feel free to give us feedback and we will answer you shortly.

We have range of products developed for different applications which you can find on our products page. To explain more about our technology we have created few illustration of how Porosponic irrigation works. Below if our signature product called Osmo Spike.

How Porosponic Irrigation works

In this illustration you can see application of Osmo Spikes on agricultural scale, which involves initial mapping of project, installation and calibration of the system.  In such large projects we require preparation of infrastructure using existing irrigation materials, such as pipes, connecting valves, air release valves, water flush valves, tees, water filter and water tanks. Water runs through the system by force of gravity creating appropriate amount of pressure (PSI) in spikes. The whole system is completely sealed and installed subterraneanly, eliminating evaporation factor.

How Porosponic Planter works

small scale system

Using the same concept we have created Porosponic Planters, which  consist of double-lined containers that allow plants to absorb the right amount of water through the lining of the interior wall of the planter. The primary advantage of the Porosponic planter is escalating human error such as irregularities of irrigation and/or overwatering plants.  As you can see in the illustration, water is filled into planter and soil absorbs moist through tiny membranes of ceramic walls, creating optimum environment for roots all the time.
The soil you place in the planter will absorb the water from the interior clay until it is fully moist. When the soil reaches its maximum moisture level, the clay will not release more water until the water is used. The plant will stay hydrated for up to one month, as long as there is water in its reservoir.
