1. What is Porosponic irrigational system?

New irrigation system which uses 90% less water – delivered subterraneanly without electricity through ceramic cylindrical spikes.  

A process by which molecules of a solvent (water) tend to pass through a semipermeable membrane from a less concentrated solution into a more concentrated one. Which means water passes through the walls of the Osmo spikes. It is made from natural clay and processed under high temperature to become ceramic spikes used for Porosponic Irrigation System

2. What is “Osmo Spike”?

It is one of our irrigational products. Osmo spike has special cylindrical design made of ceramic with integrated plastic components, which is inserted into the soil around the root of the trees or plants for irrigation.

3. The benefit of Porosponic System over drip system.

Zero electricity factor. Significant water savings and the positive effect on important micro organisms at the appropriate soil content. Very low maintenance and because Osmo spikes are subterranean (inserted under the soil) the plastic components such as tubes and tees do not erode as with traditional drip systems. Much lower long term costs.

4. What is zero electricity factor?

To run our system, we use gravity to push water through the pipes and ceramic spikes. Hence we don’t use electricity.

5. Is it suitable for any plants?

Yes as we have variety of products designed to meet the need of any plant. Porosponic system let’s the plant and soil content to determine how much water to be used, so your plant decides how much water to consume as per necessity. In some cases a more specialized design for a more specific need may be required.

6. How Porosponic can save water?

Our system works by applying different designs for variety of plants which have the ability to use as little as half cup in 24 hours or as much as 10 liters. Moreover because the water is absorbed very slowly over a long period of time, all water content remains locally as a moist for the roots of the plants and does not drain further down. Therefore system not only uses just enough water for the plants but also eliminates water loss to to evaporation and loss by draining extra water underground witch can be quite significant.

7. How Porosponic system effects the plants?

Our test carried out during last two years shows astonishing results. By conventional watering such as drip system, sprinkling or a pour over technique, plants essentially get high percentage of the water moist followed by drying out the soil due to high temperatures or simply not watering. Consequently plants are in constant conditional shock. Yet contrary by using Porosponic system which lets your plants consume as much water as they need has significant positive effect with solid results of much higher yields and shortened intervals of blooming. Another important moment is the reduction of human error  during watering which leads to the minimum risk during plants development.

8. How Porosponic system effects soil and microorganisms?

Our irrigation system effects positively on the surrounding subterranean environment as the water is being released little by little over a large area by defusing moist gradually. The constant movement of the moist to the dry soil prevents saturated gathering of the water in one spot. Hence Porosponic system creates appropriate environment for the microorganisms.

9. What material is it made of?

Our system is set up on a well existing components of a drip systems tubings and tees but our contribution is fully ceramic and environmentally friendly. It can be used for tens of years to come by firing ceramic components to certain temperature every 15 years or if broken ground up and all back to the soil.

10. How can I tell if the system is working?

It is very simple. You should check the end of the system hose which has preinstalled tap. Open the tap and wait for few minutes until running water does not have bubbles and air. Once calibrated in the beginning of the installation, Porosponic irrigation system requires minimum maintenance, yet if you need assistance we are always ready to assist.

11. What is the lifespan of the product?

Overall lifespan is 15 years for the ceramic components. After witch if fired in kiln to the required tempreture , all water and mineral residues will burn away and ceramic components can be used for another 15 years. Every few years the whole system can be cleansed using special natural solvents. All additives like fertilizers and pesticides are 100% dissolvable in water and will pass from porosity of spikes.

12. Does it come with any warranty or guarantee?

It comes with 1 year warranty where conditions apply. The main component of the Porosponic Irrigation System is made of ceramic, which is conditioned under specific high temperature in kilns. It creates small membranes in the clay which transfuses the water though the clay walls. Ceramic products tend to be tough and have long life span if not misused by negligence. Our products give the possibility to use range of different plants without limitations for the drought resistant ones if you are residing in the country with  hot or warm climate.

13. If there any technical support during 1st year?

Yes, full technical support is available from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Emergency hotline which comes according to fees paid towards the chosen packages. However we can assure our customers, that Porosponic irrigation system works with minimal maintenance and doesn’t require your attention when you are on holidays or away from home. Because there is no high PSI (pressure) and no electricity involved to run the system, it needs very rare technical support over its life span in the long run. However if there is a need for any help we are available for our customers.

14. Does it have any negative effects on plants?

The system doesn’t have any negative effects on plants, since it offers convenience of consuming water/moist anytime plants require according to its existing environment. We advice to water plants as usual after Porosponic Irrigation system installed for at least two weeks. During this period plants roots get used to new source of water. After two weeks of habitual watering plant adjusts to the new watering source understanding abundance of constant water/moist supply.

15. Why should residential home owner care about irrigation?

16. Is Porosponic Irrigational System suitable for UAE climate?

Over the past two years we have had a team of experts on the ground in these climates conducting numerous researches and tests. We are proud to say that our system works very efficiently in UAE climate and has shown astonishing results.

17. How long do I leave it on?

Our watering system is deferent from other ways in that it is permanent watering. Once u set up the system you only have to shut it off during winter (if you intend to use Porosponics in very cold climates), otherwise the system remains on at all time but the pressure behind the system may need to change a bit depending on season.

18. It’s a water short year and I don’t have enough of water. What should I do?

Then this system was made for you. It can use up to 60% to 70% less than most drip system. You can even set the system on survival. In witch you can give only enough water for the plants to survive to next year with existing water and make them thrive once more water is available to you the the following year.

19. How much of water does my plant needs in Dubai?

20. Is there any science behind of this product?

Yes there is. Our ceramic is specifically designed by both material and surface area. Through a rigorous quality control we guaranty that each ceramic product depending on surface area will always give a very specific amount of water. Over 9 years of research and development is behind our product started in the USA and Middle East.
The science based on studies of ancient Persian watering system with buried large clay pots next to plants in about 2 millennium back in history.

21. What if my water is disconnected for nonpayment?

Depending on the size of your yard you may be able to get away with as little as 20 letters for your whole yard for a day or two therefore the best way is to store two days worth of water or more if you can for such emergencies. The container can be connected to the system at the time of installation and used in emergencies by default.
For agriculture scale, reserve tank can extend the water circulation for quiet sometimes, however when the soil is moist and spikes are full of water, system can still work for sometimes till the water fully drained from tank and products.
In this condition, we reduce the water pressure to minimize the moist as much as the plant can survive for longer.

22. Does this system have any automation?

Our system is designed to function on concept of minimalism with no electricity or solid water pressure. However one can modify system with integration of modern gadgets, such as soil moist meter, soil temperature meter, soil pH meters, soil humidity meter etc.
System can be upgraded to smart remotely controlled and monitoring system if required by users.

23. Can I use any supplements for growth of the plants?

In the Porosponic system beside giving water to the plants you can use it like a hydroponic system by adding the plant nutrients to the water. As long as they are water soluble and clear dissolving. The amounts and guidelines for each variety of plants well be given to you and just like with water you can use up to 95 percent less fertilizers as well because it is direct injection to the roots.
